CHARACTER SUMMARY
Uta’s birth is overall a mystery, and even the circumstances of her adoption by the Red Haired pirates had more questions than answers. When she was two, her home town was attacked by pirates, resulting in the death of her parents. It’s unknown how she ended up in a treasure chest, but she was brought aboard by the attacking pirates. Those pirates subsequently ran into the Red Haired pirates and were defeated. Shanks found her inside the chest, and with no way to find her family, he believed it was fate (as his circumstances were quite similar with the Roger pirates) and adopted the girl.
She grew up on the seas, her love of music building as she stepped in to become the musician of the crew. Her travels brought her to Foosha Village, where she befriended Monkey D. Luffy, making him her rival whenever they ended up playing games together. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, and the Red Haired pirates ended up on what she would call her home for many years to come, Elegia. There she was started an apprenticeship with Elegia’s king, Gordon, and the people of the country recognized her talent, calling her a prodigy. This also cause the demon Tot Musica, sealed away beneath Elegia, to recognize her talent as well, gifting her the sheet music to summon him without her knowing. Not knowing what tragedy would befall, she sang the music, and brought the demon into the real world, only stopping its destruction when she exhausted herself. Gordon, and the Red Haired Pirates were the only survivors of the incident.
So Shanks left her on the island, making her believe that he was the reason Elegia fell. She woke, only to see her family leaving, abandoning her on the island with her mentor. Isolated for the next 11 years, she learned the truth, but her anger for her father and pirates persisted. She honed her skills, composing music and finally setting up several transponder snails to start performing on video for the world. Her break out song, New Genesis, earned her the title of diva, her popularity rising quickly. As she spoke to her fans, she learned of their grief, their circumstances when it comes to the reality of the world where pirates flourished. She took their wishes to listen to her music forever literally, and started to develop a plan to bring as many people into the Sing-Sing world as possible with the help of her Devil Fruit.
Her first and only live performance in front of a crowd was broadcast across the world with the help of transponder snails, and once she sang her hit song? Millions of people were drawn into the Sing-Sing World. She, on the other hand can exist in either but she intended to die to keep everyone safe and happy in the new world.
She slowly starts to lose her mind and footing with the hundreds of people attending her performance, her anger coming to the forefront as she’s both attacked by pirates, marines, and friends alike. She wants a world where no one has to fight or starve or pick a side, and while this is an admirable goal, the way she’s going about it is quite terrible. Even this is pointed out to her but her rage boils to a point where she summons Tot Musica once more, threatening with burning both worlds down to create her new one.
Her plans are ultimately foiled by the Straw Hat Pirates and the Red Haired Pirates. Despite her anger at her father for leaving her behind, she restores the souls those listening and watching her broadcast through song. Ultimately her fate is unknown as Shanks brings her back on board the Red Force.
